Let's Be Nice - Rules For Beginners Once you have done your practicing on the driving range, and maybe a practice putting course, you are actually ready to attempt your first round of golf. It would be suggested to trynine holes to begin. If you have a patient friend who would be willing to go with you to show you the ropes, that would be great. Sometimes the more experienced golfers know a lot about the game, but are not as patient, and want to tell you every mistake you make. This could only lead to your early frustration with the game, and your possibly "throwing in the towel"as it were.Ask around and find a fairly easy par three golf swing course. That is a good place to begin. Try to go when the golf course is not going to be busy. You might want to call first and ask, but it is a given that you would want to stay away from Saturday mornings, early weekday mornings, and summer evenings as this is usually when most golf leagues play. A late morning, early afternoon is a good time if the weather is not a factor for you. You are now ready for your first real Golf Swing.Take note as you go to the tee on the first hole, if there is another group coming to the same hole behind you, you might want to let them go first, as you are likely to be slower than they. At least be courteous and make the offer. At any time during your nine holes, if you notice that groups are backing up behind you, practice good sportsmanship, and allow them to play through. You are probably ready for a break any way. While you are resting, you can make note of the golf swings of other players and see how they do.Remember, you are not Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson, so do not try to swing so hard to knock your ball on to the green with your first stroke. You are more interested in accuracy. If you can keep the ball on the fairway, that is a great success. If the ball only goes twenty feet, don't feel bad, it went twenty feet on the fairway! People who try to hit the ball hard lose any hope of accuracy at this early point, and usually hit the ball into the rough, a sand trap, or water. Easy on the golf swing, have fun, be polite, and see you on the golf course. |
